head shots question - spoilers

Don't remember seeing any movie before where a guy shoots himself in the head TWICE. Would that even be possible? I would think after the first bullet went in, that you would no longer have the wits or strength to shoot yourself in the head a second time.

Haha, i just happen to have had the opportunity to sit in on a medical school
class that dealt with facial trauma, recently..

There was a case where a guy tried to shoot himself in the head after his
girlfriend broke up with him.

The guy put a gun to his temple and pulled the trigger. The bullet
passed right through behind his eyes, severing his optic nerves, but otherwise
leaving him alive and perfectly fine (if you call being blind "fine".)

So, technically... Is it possible to shoot yourself in the head twice?

Yes.

reply

So, did she take him back??

Seems the least she could do.

reply

They never saw eye to eye after that

Hey Kpuzzler,

I would agree with you that it is not likely someone could shoot himself in the head twice - one shot should certainly do it. However, if you want to consider a long shot here, remember he was using a semi-auto pistol. With a semi-auto pistol, it reloads a fresh cartridge immediately, and I suppose it could be possible for a person to shoot himself a second time even if the first shot had already killed him. In the film, however, Greenwood clearly shoots himself through the head and then waits at least two seconds before he makes a second shot.

So no, the whole two shot thing in this film simply does not make sense to me either.

Best wishes,
Dave Wile

Maybe he became a ghost after the first shot and the second shot set him free.

I was skeptical too - then I read up on it, and there are multiple cases of attempted suicides effectively performing a lobotomy, including curing depression which led them to try suicide in the 1st place. Don't remember any names but Cracked had an article about it, the cases which they found from news websites. So it's rare that a headshot so close wouldn't be fatal but it does happen. Brice was determined to die, thus the 2nd shot.
