Why does Kingsley have to die?

I think it's Kingsley; the Brit in the turtleneck? Because he did not see and prevent the mistake from his place on watch? It looked like he only had a moment to react but maybe I missed the beginning.

I got the crew dying; that captain wanted his ship back. But it was back.

So what was the story point of one of the "innocents" dying?

He was on watch the night of the attack, but I don't really see how he could have prevented it??

I cant work out why he died either, made no sense to me watching the movie....

Casualties of war: him along with the majority of the crew.

I actually kind of liked that, as someone had to die with the sub rumbling around. I expected it to be Galifinakis (sp?), because he was the most unimportant of the group.

Some times actual accidents do happen. The ghost didn't hurl the pipe at his head. And as for the crew dying...did they deserve that? They didn't know what really happened to Winters.

And THAT is where babies come from.

In his case I think it was accidental, but still a shame

yeah the only possible explanation is an accident. I liked the movie pretty much before it ended. The whole killing of innocents stuff didn't go down well with me. Ghosts generally are not this callous in movies.

he saw the sub and thought it was German -- possible f he was around forever he might have remembered better
