Colin Firth as Will

I've read that Colin Firth auditionned for the role of Will but was turned down because he wasn't as bankable as Hugh.Do you think he would have done a good job, though?

reply

Nope...this was one of Hugh's greatest acting jobs....perfection.

Hate to sound rude.. but the other poster is right. And I am a HUGE Firth fan.. but he already did his Hornby flick, "Fever Pitch".. and really this would have been kind of a retread for him. His humor though it a bit drier than Grant's.. so I think Grant was definitely the perfect choice for the role when the film was made.

I love Colin Firth, but Hugh Grant was just a joy to watch in this. He made this movie.

No disrespect to Grant but he's easier to take in a role where he's supposed to be a bit of a dick (and he plays a dick quite well), whereas with Firth, I at least, can only ever see him as the nice guy! I don't know but that's just my opinion!
