I want to be like Will....

the guy who manages to live in such nice and big house, does nothing all day but goes to hair salon, plays pool, read books and have money to buy some kid trainers and CD player.

But he's alone!! Dont you think that the marriage is one of the best ways to live happily?

reply

I don't.

You can be single and be very happy being active and/or in a relationship that isn't rooted in any requirement of marriage.

Will was kind of an idiot IMHO, but I could empathize with his idiocy because he's not a careless fool like so many others who are born into wealth and use it to abuse those close and not so close to them.

Yeah, it's cool to a point. I've only visited and stayed in London for a short while and I couldn't imagine being wealthy enough to live there without needing to work.

If I were Will, I'd use my fortune to travel abroad and see new people and places. I always hear from Brits who complain about the cold and dreary weather throughout England so I can't imagine how Will would be so content on being a slacker there. I'd be in the Caribbean if I were him.

I feel like a bit too much is made of Will's wealth. From what I can gather from the film, he's probably not as fabulously wealthy as people seem to think. Yes, he gets a substantial yearly income from royalties, but it may be more like 100k a year, not millions a year. Don't get me wrong, I'd take that in a heartbeat but I don't think he has limitless money to do anything his heart desires. If he did, he'd probably be living in a mansion with a large car collection or something. From the movie, we only know that his income is enough to afford him: a nice one bedroom flat in what appears to be a pretty nice neighborhood, one nice car, some nice stuff inside his flat, and then stuff like groceries, and bill payments. Oh and some nice gifts for Marcus, but nothing extravagant.

I haven't read the book, so maybe it completely contradicts my theory and feel free to let me know, but I don't think he's the multi-millionaire folks here seem to be implying.

Oh, and there's the Ferarri he seemed very excited by at the SPAT Meeting. If he's so rich wouldn't he just buy one rather than fantasize about it?

The fact that Will seems to have no desire to make more money and move up a step in his income level seems to bother a lot of people. The fact that he is missing that common human instinct of greed and envy makes him odd.

He's rich enough to not have to work and to have a nice lifestyle ... So pretty well off!

He's a great role model
