RIP Kerry McGregor - 1974 to 2012

I am sad to report that the actress and singer Kerry McGregor who played Carol Ann in the show has died of stomach cancer, aged only 37.

Kerry was in the show for several episodes as Kenny's wheelchair bound girlfriend Carol as well as making several theatre performances.

However her main love and career was music and she was successfully writing and performing from 1993 onwards, making an appearance on the UK version of The X Factor and reaching the final 10 competitors.

In addition to this she always found time for numerous charities involved with children, cancer and spinal injuries.

Speaking of Kerry, Annie Griffin, the writer/director said

"When I met Kerry at Book Group auditions some years ago, I knew immediately that she was a huge talent. She has a lit from within quality that makes her very watchable onscreen. I very much enjoyed working with Kerry on the series. And that´s before I knew she could sing! It was an honour to work with Kerry and I hope we can work together again soon."
