Who was the beautiful girl who played the maid? I didn't see her listed in the credits. She strutted like a model--I wonder if the fact that she didn't have a single line in the movie is because she couldn't speak like an actor or was there some underlying artistic reason.

However, the actress zhou xun is given 3rd billing in the IMDB listing of this movie, so I assume she was the female lead. I was asking about the actress who played the MAID--the gal who was pretending to be an important elite but who eventually lost her job because she dressed in her employer's clothes (she was found out when she lost a shoe in the bicycle shop). This was basically her only scene--frantically searching for the shoe.

yes that IS Zhou Xun
Zhou xun is massive in China (in new movie with Zhang Ziyi) so naturally she would get 3rd billing, even though she barely had a part in it. I guess it was more of a cameo role kinda thing.
