Where did you buy this and what did you expect?

Here is my story -

I knew the film was being made through and thought brilliant I have been waitin for this for years, and then heard nothing, not having the internet at the time I had no idea how it was being developed I naively expected at least a limited theater release.
Anyway around 2002/3 I searched in HMV, Woolworths WH Smith etc and eventually one night in my local off licence after months of searching they had a video copy for £5.99 in their low budget video range - I snapped it up straight away and rushed home to put it on (already worried about where I had found it and the dodgy cover!!)
So the film starts better than I thought it would Mr Savini looked good and I was I have to say a little bit excited................but the rest was a disaster I have read Tors explanation and I can understand what did happen I just dont understand how the producers had the gall to release it I mean its not the worst film ever but its not far from it and I never thought it would be so unwatchable!!

I wonder on a budget of 500000 if the film made a profit - I expect so but how would we find this out??

From ebay a few years ago because I was going through a stage of loving zombie films.

I thought it would be cheesy, but not THIS cheesy.

Picked it up at BigLots for 3 dollars, wasn't worth it but I will keep it. I enjoy "so bad there good" type movies from time to time.

I saw it (mispelled as Child of Dead) on comcast on demand horror genre channel. I agree with the OP except he got one thing wrong - It IS the worst movie ever made. Seriously I can' think of much of a worse film I've ever seen, not even Troll 2.

I actually consider this the worst film I've ever seen, if not the worst ever made (I mean that seriously, not by way of "I hate it sooo much" hyperbole).

I can't honestly remember if I ordered it or saw it on the shelf of a local Aussie EzyDVD store shortly after they opened about three or four years ago. I think it cost around $10 or $15.

I was already a BIG zombie movie fan and had seen lots of cheap dodgy zombie films so I didn't mind if it wasn't exactly great. Needless to say, even with the dodgy cover, I wasn't ready for HOW bad it was; I'd say it was the quality of a highschool student film, but many of those are FAR superior to COTLD. It wasn't just a bad movie, it was a bizarrely bad movie... it seemed like it was made by the cheapest of cheap video porn studios, with their cousins and friends, over a weekend.

Heck, Tom being in it gave me the reason I actually sought it out (all I'd heard was that he was in it and that it "wasn't very good"). No way he could even begin to make up for the awfulness.

Kudos to Tor for having the balls to be open and honest about this utter disaster. I keep his "apology" printed out inside the case of my DVD as a "bonus booklet"! :D

I bought my copy from Amazon UK for less than £3. This was probably in 2006. I had low expectations, but the movie was even worse than anticipated. I thought the presence of Tom Savini would make it worthwhile, but I was wrong.

Uninteresting sidebar: I have yet to see the ending. I've started to watch CotLD twice – and fallen asleep twice! Third time lucky?

well, hopefully you DID watch it all the way through.
in the aftermath of the final zombie attack, the protagonist is walking away with his girlfriend and tries to holster his gun under his belt. after one and a half seconds of struggling, the actor sort of gives up, and pretends his awkward fumbling was just sorta part of his natural walking motion. LMAO!!

oh, this movie's a classic. the teenagers in the van, the "detective construction worker"...so many classic moments.

Got this for £1.00 in a second hand shop. You could probably watch it if you were drunk or stoned... Honestly I didn't think it was THAT bad.

I rented it from Blockbuster back when it was videotapes. I didn't expect much, and that's what I got. There was a lot of unintentional comedy, so it was kind of entertaining in that way. Also, the actress Jamie McCoy was really pretty, so that was a bonus.

I bought this film as part of an eight film value pack at Wal-Mart for five bucks and I was hoping that it would at least be decent.

I'm a totally bitchin' bio writer from Mars!
