Kojima was an extra?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versus_%28film%29

"Hideo Kojima, the producer-director of the Metal Gear series, was an extra in Versus, and a friend of Kitamura. Versus also influenced the swordfighting scenes in Metal Gear Solid 2. Kitamura later directed the cut-scenes for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid."

And even on the Imdb trivia page

"Video game producer-director Hideo Kojima (of "Metal Gear" fame) was an extra in the film. Kitamura, as a friend, was later handpicked to direct Kojima's remake of "Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes." Versus is attributed to heavily influencing the sword-fighting scenes in the game."

WHAT?!?!?

Is this accurate? (I know wikipedia/imdb are edited by people and all...)

If so, where is he in it?

Well its true abot Kitama doing the cut scenes in MGS Twin Snakes.
That much is obvious when you play the game

I watched it tonight for the thrid time (love it) and there are several zombies that could be him. Ie short hair, glasses.

But there anr't any close ups so, who knows?!

reply

hmmm never heard of that one... but he was an extra in Azumi as one of hundreds rouge warriors(maybe someone confused the titles) he even showed up on the behind the scenes featurette... haven't spotted him in the picture though...

Why not let kitamura direct the upcoming mgs flick? ;)

reply

because MGS is supposed to be a little less over the top than ryuhei would like. but yeah, I do know he's in azumi for sure.

not true. if you look at how Kojima directs action in MGS3, it's clearly inspired by Kitamura's cutting and visual style. the long circular pans, the sound editing, is all so Kitamura.

reply

"cutting and visual style, circular pans and the sound editing" does not equal snake backflipping large chunks of flying ceilings and bullets. stylistically their storytelling styles are different, maybe not so if you think about mgs4, but with mgs1 it was just too radical for me.

Yep he was indeed an extra in Versus, I believe in one of the extras on the Ultimate release has Kojima.

I own Ultimate Versus and I watched the main feature more than the special features. But from what I remember, when the Versus team were talking about the deleted scenes they said "..theres Kojima.." at a scene where the detectives hit another zombie that does looks like H. Kojima with there car. But im only 75% sure.

reply

Look closer, he's the one wearing camo, crawling, and looking up female zombies' skirts while eating a snake.
