Stephen Dorff

Saw this movie on cable the other night.
In the cable info listing, they gave Stephen Dorff
second listing in the credits.

I'm glad i saw this film, i liked it,
but i thought it very funny that Dorff was top billed in
the cable description when he was in the film for i
beleive about 8 seconds total.
( and i think they used the same footage twice)

It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.

Oh i agree completely, i think they listed Dorff deliberatly in
the info guide to attract viewers. I was guilty of it myself.
We were flipping through, saw Dorff in the billing and thought
"well, he's ok, and there's nothing else on...let's watch this".

It's a very simplistic ploy, but i am kind of glad it was listed
that way this time. I enjoyed the movie very much, and will be
looking for those actors in other movies now.

I just thought it was funny that, once you've seen this movie,
it is so transparent what the 'gibbons' were trying to do when
they wrote the info.
Yeah, esp since Dorff wasn't even in the credits. heheh

>>I wonder sometimes if actors feelings get hurt when that happens though<<

Heheh, yeah i wonder about that too. Like they go see the movie themselves,
wait for the credits (maybe they have thier freinds and family with), get all
excited...the "Hey! The heck!?!?...I do 6 seconds of work and get NOTHING?!?".
heheh

I've trained a crack squad of elite smileys just for you:
(it really helps if you spin around a few times first)

:O)

BTW, what other movies would you recommend that had 'The Last Minute' crew?
Anything as good as this one?

Yeah, i'm in the states...around Chicago actually.
And yes, it is VERY difficult to see Britich actors.
But i try. Lord knows, i try!
:O)

I do remember seeing Max in 'Kill Me Later'. Never saw the whole thing,
but i remember Max. There was just something about him.
"I think..I think i loved him once..." heheh
Not sure how that movie stacks up with you (i think it got kind of goopy
at the end), but i did like his performance (of what i saw) very much.

So yeah, anything with Max, i think i would enjoy, and will look
for in the future.

I think i'm going to have to watch 'Blade' again. I can't believe
that was the same director as this and LXG (I never had a problem
with LXG, i thought it was kind of fun). But it just seems like
quite a jump in styles in all 3. But maybe not as much as i think, huh?

...was looking at the film history of Udo Kier..my GOD! The man
has done more movies than a porn star!!! heheheh

Jason Isaacs...was he Percy, the guy with the sledgehammer?
(WOW, am i really that lazy that i won't click back and look myself???)
:O)

Yeah, i like Udo! He's got that suave-cool thing going.
Even liked him in Ace Ventura. hehehe

I'm curious, what do you think of Guy Ritchie?
I loved 'Snatch' and '...2 smoking Barrels'.
Another good batch of Brits.
:O)

Heheh. That's not a problem at all. That would have been a good way to get me to see Mary Poppins again though. I would be freeze-framing on every one of those little chimney-sweeps going "is THAT ONE him!?!?". :O)

Udo and Issacs...too very cool looking dudes.
Yeah, this movie has LOTS of gems! It was pretty weird seeing Issacs dancing around, but i guess he could be forgiven, since he was beating up the crowd whilst performing. The most violent lounge act i've seen. Would go over great with the 80+ crowd in Vegas. heheh!

But speaking of which...the "...they call me Percy"...what was up with that? Was that a reference to something? I think i missed something there. :O(

You should definately check out Richie's work. You seem to be very into movie styles, and he certainly has style. 'Snatch' is a bit flashy, but a very cool movie. 'Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels' was his first (i believe), and it is pretty smooth too.

Plus, the DJ from 'Last Minute' (the guy that should take some of the blame for causing Issacs to sing) is in 'Snatch'. There might be a few other people on the British scene that you might recognize too.

Oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh...Percy Sledge!
Well THAT makes sense now...and yes, that is definatly "You B*stards!" worthy.
I would have never made that connection though. Always knew the Michael Bolton version was a remake, but never knew the original. How sad, yet i blame society.
:O)

I'd hate to ask you how you got head-butted, and i hope it's not in connection to your movie zeal. :O)
But yeah, the rapping DJ that Percy silences. He has a lead role in 'Snatch'...although that's kind of hard to say, seeing as almost everyone in Richie's films get about equal screen time.

Yeah, let me know what you think of those, good or bad. I'd have to say you've been the most interesting person i've talked to on these boards and you have a very unique insight into movies. It would be interesting to see your take on Richie. So yeah, lemme know...maybe throw it up on your site or something whenever you get the chance.

Later!
:O)

Mmm...sorry, havent done web pages. But i've seen your site(s), and
they look fine. A LOT better than some non-sponsered sites. I like
the little rocker dudes too. heheh
Eh, i wouldn't worry too much about it...i mean, there will ALWAYS be
someone that knows a better way to do something, right?

Michael Bolton? I think he might be Canadian, actually...anyway, he
did a remake of WAMLAW. Not sure who they had credited in 'Last Minute',
but i doubt it was him. (BTW...did you ever see 'Office Space'? )

Does your library carry 'R' rated films? I think both 'Snatch' and
'Lock, Stock..' are R.

>>(Phil, listen, you don't have to be polite and come back just to answer, hon. This last year I've been blabbing non-stop on and off the web.)<<

Please! It's either this or work so...heheh! And i dont mind, really. You've been one of the more decent people on these boards, it's a nice change (some people have SO MUCH anger in them!). So, let's have no more of that, K? :O)

I think you'll find it a bit harder to get 'Lock, Stock...'. 'Snatch' was more mainstream of the two, so that shouldnt be a prob. But i think even at Blockbuster it would be tough to find many copies of LS. But Happy Hunting!
hehehe

Oh, Office Space...such a good comedy. "Burger"(sp) from 'Sex in the City' stars in this movie. Not sure what occupation you're in, but for those of us office dwellers, this movie was our Swan Song. (hehe..i dont really know what that phrase means, but it sounded appropriate). Basically, it's a guy who becomes "free" from the shackles of white collar daycare. Pretty funny if you've ever been stuck with office work, or have ever battled a printer over a false paper jam. hehe
I mention the Michael Bolton thing because there is a charater in the movie with that name. He is heavy into rap music, and hates Michael Bolton music. Yet everyone thinks he is related to the singer since they have the same name. Few funny bits about that in there. :O)

You might want to put that on your list if you like that kind of stuff. But it'll have to be THIRD on your list, right? heheh
;O)

>>Hello, Phil...<<
Hi! :O)

>>P.S.---I finally "caught" the joke on "I blame society"; that was funnier than hell!!! <<

Hehehe...thanks! Was wondering if you saw that.

>>Oh, yeah, in the past I've done righteous battle with the Xerox machine. And some righteous kicking. Any comic nightmare you've seen in a movie involving a copier, believe me, I made happen in real life. Along with our Apple salesmen, Xerox repairmen hated me<<

Then there is a scene in Office Space from which you'll take extra joy.
I don't want to give it away, but i'll just say: Justice was done.
:O)

Hen-fest...heheh
:O)

I dont know...that's a toughie...
I've only seen the movie once, and i'm trying to keep it
in my recallable memory. :O)
(for Cliff Note verion, jump to the bottom) hehe

I think i liked most of the characters for different reasons.
I liked Billy, mostly cause he was the focus of the story. Yeah, he was
an ass and stepped over people, but he was also young, energetic, and
he certainly got a taste of the downside of life. Kind of balanced out
the whole equation. I kind of liked his ability to adapt (after a normal
period of whining and moaning, of course. hehe). Plus he had a cool voice.
:O)

Loved Udo, of course. heheh

Percy was cool. Always makes it interesting to have unhinged gangsters
dancing (literally) around the screen. I feel they could have made a
whole spin-off with him. Seemed interesting enough.

Our little DJ friend, for his 5 minute screen time, was pretty cool.
Although if i didnt see him in 'Snatch' i probably wouldnt have mentioned
him now.

I even liked Grimshanks. Man that guy looked creepy, with the trenchcoat and
shades...total Oliver Twist character, but seeing as where he lived, thats
forgivable. I dont know if it was a camera trick, but his intro, when we
first see him, made him appear 'other-worldy'. (or just wacked-out on coke).
heheh

I liked Garvey too. He had vision. He did what he had to do, bad or not,
all for the good of his goal. Can't blame a guy for that. And yeah, from
your other post, he did seem like the only one in that room that was
upset with Billy's state of being. That's respectable i guess.

But if i had to pick a favorite, i guess i would go with Anna. She was so
cool at the begining. Was the only one that (loved?) understood Billy, and/or
what he was trying to do. I like strong female characters in films, and she
had that going. Kinda wished a better ending for her, but you could tell she
changed (chemically). Still thought she was cool though.

...and then there was Man at Club #6, and Woman in Crowd, and...
hehehe
:O)

CliffNote:
I guess in all i would have to watch it again, and see who i get a
better feeling from.
:O)

>>They just keep getting younger and younger. Better than the bag-boy at Jewel's though, huh? <<

HEHEH!! I got a lot of funny looks at work when i busted out
laughing at that! :O)
Yeah, Max's voice is/was cool. But i'm wondering if that's just
cause lots of accents sound cool to those that never hear them
very much. Still, i liked it. I was captivated by that whole speech
at the begining of the film...it was interesting, yes...but that
accent helped too.
:O)

FAGIN!! Thank You!! I could NOT remember that name. Yeah, check out when
he's delivering the Othello prose...his movements looked very bizzare.
reminded me of 'Jacobs Ladder' or something by David Lynch.

>>But I"m sure it'll play again. Sorry about that, Phil; I am. :*( <<
It's no prob. Been watching the Olympics, but now that they are over, we'll
be raiding the movie channels again. hehe
But now i WILL have to check it out again, cause i don't recall the Cancer Man.
Was he a guy on the street Max meets, and he appears a couple of times?
I'll have to watch for him.

And, YEAH!!! I'm glad you were able to get 'Snatch'...
Geeze...I REALLY hope it lives up to all the hype i've been giving
it now. Hehehe!
