Actually, the "bursting into Sunlight" rule does NOT appear at all in Vampire mythology and actually originated with the movie Nosferatu in 1922. hus, calling it the "most basic Vampire Rule" is false since Vampires in fiction that predated Noseferatu, such as Varney the Vampire, Carmilla, and Bram Stoker's version of Vampires (i.e. the original version of Dracula, his three brides, and Lucy) are NOT harmed by sunlight.
As for why Saya hates religion, the original mythology does indicate that Vampires are affected by religion (but not just Christianity), so maybe that's why she hates it. It's because it harms her.
