This enchanting stop-motion animation series for younger viewers featured the everyday adventures of the puppet children from Rainbow, one of the longest-running and best-loved children’s programmes ever made.

Sally, her brother Jake and the other characters of Dimbledale were among the earliest creations of BAFTA and Emmy winners Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall, the phenomenally successful production team behind classics such as 1975’s Noddy, Dangermouse, the magical Wind in the Willows, and Cinderella. Featuring narration by Mike Savage and songs sung by former Herman’s Hermit Keith Hopwood, Sally and Jake was originally screened between 1973 and 1974, and both series plus the 1973 Christmas special are available here for the first time in any format.

Sally and Jake live in the little village of Dimbledale, where there’s always plenty for them to see and do. Their parents run the local greengrocer’s shop, and Dad drives to the market every day to collect fruit and vegetables. Gran lives next door, and is always on hand to provide delicious pies and cakes. Their other friends include Harry the odd-job man, who lives in a converted barn and is always making and mending something, and Farmer Merry, who works the fields around the village… not forgetting Sly the cat, who finds Dimbledale the ideal place to do what he likes doing best - curling up and going to sleep!
