Making a real movie

Do you think somebody's going to make a real movie about Justice League? Like "The Avengers" or something.

reply

One can only hope.

Someday someone will...I think the thing is it would need to be a ginormous budget. Justice League...well DC period is on a much bigger scale than Marvel. The powers are a lot bigger.

I do hope that if they make a Justice League movie they use the usual lineup and not a completely new one like The Avengers did.

They've been trying for a while now... I'm sure it will happen eventually. It probably wouldn't be for a few years though.

It's in the works, but I don't get the sense that anyone at WB really knows how to pull it all together. While I thought Avengers was a great end result, I thought the third acts of Thor and Captain America were somewhat hampered by the need to get to Avengers and to tie everything together. Then, you still had the problem that Black Widow and Hawkeye ended up mostly being in the background, with no character development. A justice League movie faces similar challenges. You have to keep the numbers manageable to give the characters enough screen time. Anyhting more than 5 to seven won't likely work. Personally, I don't think we need origin stories for most of the characters, except maybe Flash. The rest are pretty well known, apart from J'onn, who could be the linking piece to assembling the team, as in this series.

There's absolutely no way a Flash movie would work. Some characters are only good in an ensemble setting. I really can't see any of the Justice League getting solo pictures except for the big three.

Green Lantern supposedly had a ginormous fan base that flaked when the movie came out.

That's because the Green Lantern movie was terrible.

But you're right, I don't see them making a Flash solo movie anytime soon (though I think it'd be cool if they did). They can't even make a Wonder Woman movie.

reply

Sure it could. The tv series started out with great viewing numbers, until it started getting yanked around the schedule. You can do all kinds of visual tricks, which were staples of the comic, and you have some decent villains to work with. You would probably need to make many of the costumes into something more practical.

Green Lantern did have a strong fan base, but they can spot a turkey when they see it. It's not the characters, it's the execution of film.

If you ask me, half the problem in Hollywood is that they either treat the property as a joke or they treat it so seriously that it becomes pompous. Whatever happened to just having fun with it? Look at the Rocketeer. It captures the comic beautifully and is loads of fun; most of it stretching belief, but always sincere. The Donner Superman has some lame comedic moments, but Christopher Reeve made you believe in Superman as a character, no matter how corny the diallogue was. Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark are hardly realistic but they are consistent and get you to invest in the characters, no matter how bad the dialogue. That's what it takes to bring the wilder comic book properties to life.

Yes they are. They're already talking about it. They are trying to cash in on The Avenger's success.

Unfortunately it's probably going to suck.

The trick is hiring the best writers, actors and directors and making the movies PEOPLE WANT. Personally I think the Justice League; Unlimited TV-show is perfect base material. they just need to make 5-7 movies that tie into the justice league movie. it's not really cashing in, it's more like evolving with your competition

With all the recent casting news from the Batman vs Superman movie, we know for certain now that they are finally doing a JL movie.
