The animation is obviously a little old school compared to say, Young Justice, but the character design, voice acting, scripts and stories are still amazing ... it's a huge love letter to comic books.

Without spoiling too much, the government finds out what the Justice Lords did in the alternate universe, and takes steps to prevent the same thing from happening with the Justice League.
