Yeo-sol's spear and Gen. Choi Jung's sword

What kind are they? I've never seen a spear head or sword like them before... were they just made for the movie? Thanks

reply

The spear and the sword are old time Chinese weapons, not special at all.

I don't think they are any special weapons. They are typical Far Eastern Asian sword design. Chinese and Korean favor dual edges sword. Japanese favors a single edge. One of Kurosawa's movie had a stolen Korean sword as a plot line.

Another interesting note is that Korean's well known for archery. I think it's due to the Mongolian influnces. North Korean archers can penetrate heavily armored chinese general from 200 yards. There was a story of killing Japanese general by two bow men: one knocked off the general's helmet and the other drilled a clear hole in the head right after helmet was knocked off.

My life isn't any better than yours.

Old time Chinese weapons (x)

Old time Korean weapons (o)

The two countries were located in geographically distinct regions (China - the capital surrounded by plains / Korea - mountainous, lots of hills) and developed different weapon systems and technology.

id like to see u tell the southern chinese their country is full of plains.

reply

He said the capital was surrounded by plains, not all of China.
