help please(spoilers please)

I came in when the dad was bleeding and had apparently been shot after (or during?) the sledding accident. The kid grabs a blanket, some booze, and that little magical properties figurine or whatever, and he and his mom go to the hospital. Before the dad is taken into emergency, he talks to his wife and son about the first couple days the son was with them after he was born, etc. saying he'll always be with them and he loves them, etc. The sheriff questions the wife while the dad is in surgery. The sheriff then goes to question the crazy guy who apparently lived as a youth in the place where the family is vacationing. That guy kills the sheriff with the hammer, but then he's attacked in his car by the antler guy/deer creature. At some point, he's running and the sheriff's backup shows up and accidentally mows the hammer guy down. Meanwhile, dad has some convulsions in surgery, you see images of antler guy and the kid witnesses it and passes out. Then the dad dies. Then the crazy hammer guy gets brought in and the kid sees him pass by, their eyes meet, the kid knows the hammer guy is the one who shot his dad and that the hammer guy is probably going to die, then the kid drops the figurine. The end.
