Some parts I didn't get...

Exactly what the title says, and here's the parts I don't get:
Was the Native man in the gift shop the Wendigo itself, or a shaman?

What happened to the guy (the one that sends the Wendigo after the family) at the end of the movie? Did he get scared to death or something?

Why did the Wendigo go after the crazy guy in the end if he sent the creature after Miles' father?

I think that's all the questions...

I was wondering about that native american guy aswell. I also think he was the Wendigo. He was far to creepy to be the spirit of a shaman in my oppinion. Also at the end when Otis gets wheeled into the hospital straight after the accident/encounter with the Wendigo he's there.

Kinda makes sense also in spirit of what he tells Miles when he first appears and gives him the statue. "No spirit is evil yet some are angry and should be feared." Something like that anyway. That and that it can take on many forms.

About Otis.. I don't think he sent the Wendigo after the family.
The native american said the Wendigo should be feared. However, Miles' parents didn't believe Miles' stories. I think that's why the Wendigo went after the dad.
But because Miles respected the legend the Wendigo repaid him by going after Otis. Wether he was killed I don't know. Looked like he was messed up pretty bad though. both physically and mentally

Anyway that's my theory. I could be wrong though.

i think the wendigo went after the dad because the dad hit the deer. what i want to know is why did the wendigo look like he was made out of sticks when he went after the dad but was all furry when he went after otis.

The Indian guy said it could be half tree, half wind, half man so it took what ever form that would help it at the time & when they were sledding there were a lot of trees around so it took the tree form.

Did I miss something? At what point did Wendigo go after the family? That didn't happen... Sure, maybe he was hanging around a bit, scaring the kid, but that was just his imagination.

I didn't see the Wendigo going after our protagonist family, either. If anything, according to the dad's description, the Wendigo helped him get home after Otis shot him (he said something about feeling like a big wind picked him up and carried him). The Wendigo never makes any aggressive moves towards the family, but it does chase Otis to his death.

As for the man who gives the boy the Wendigo figurine BEING the Wendigo, I don't really see this. I think his part was just a clumsy effort to inject some suspense.

Hey, maybe the Wendigo was furry when he was chasing Otis to look like a giant pissed off deer. I know if I hunted deer & then a huge one started running at me like the Wendigo ran it would mess with my head.

There's only one thing you need to get about this movie: this movie was terrible and you shouldn't waste your time with it.

I agree. Actually the Wendigo was like Boo Radley [whom the wife actually mentioned earlier on when trying to explain Otis' constant presence]. He seems weird and mysterious at first but in the end turns out to be not such a bad guy and in fact aids the protagonists.
