Anyone else feel like this could make a good stage play?

Broadway is adapting more and more films into stage plays/musicals, I feel like this would be a perfect fit. The story is very contained and conducive to stage production and I feel like the BDSM scenes would be more intense being watched live in a formal theater setting.

A nice idea but I don't think I'd be comfortable watching that sort of thing live. Unless James Spader reprised his role...

LOL! Have a heart, think about the poor actress playing Lee. It would be very difficult to fake those spankings on stage. After two shows a day she would have to eat all her meals standing up!

Mind you, if an 'out' kinky actress took on the role...

Hold all my calls! Get me the agents of Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie and Lucy Liu - and make it snappy!

Well outside of the Disney/Corporate-owned playhouses on Broadway, theater has a history of being provocative and challenging. This film has an intensity and awkwardness to it and I feel like those qualities could be brought up to an 11 in a theater setting, especially for audience members who find the subject matter more fascinating than they do titillating.

Maybe it wouldn't have the makings of a big broadway hit, but I still think the story could make an exciting and interesting stage play (or even a comically dark musical).
