Talking to a friend today and he mentioned he was watching The She Creature which I assumed was a remake of the 1956 movie of the same name

But he started talking gibberish about mermaids and stuff so I looked it up.

Never knew it existed.
Any fans of the comic? How close is the movie, if at all?

shareIt is not based on the Rumiko Takahashi series as far as I'm aware, and while it has been years I don't recall any of the stories being similar. The Takahashi tale is also horror dealing with mermaids(from Japanese lore perspective), but that is about as far as connections go I think. Could be wrong though, as I said it's been years.
Anyway, the Takahashi series was excellent. Definitely worth a read. For those worried about it being manga(and subsequently anime), it is of the type that the manga is simply the medium and can't be lumped together with even the author's other works really. Couldn't recommend it more.
