Where Jennie is from

During the part when the dad is presenting Jennie to an audience of some sorts (sorry I haven't seen this movie in a while), he says she is from East Africa. This can't be true because when Jennie was born, the tribesmen delivering her were speaking Twi, a language from Ghana which is in West Africa. Sorry if this makes no sense to you, but it's been bothering me for awile so I had to let it out.
