Was the nose really necessary?

It looks very weird because such a nose is virtually impossible on a person of Nicole Kidman's bone structure. Also, I remember at the theater how you could really see when her nose ended and the plastic began, so effing weird. Does anyone know in which scenes it was digitally retouched?

Don't know the answer to that but I agree with you 100%. If you look at photos of Virginia Woolf, her nose completely went with her face and never looked bulbous or out of place like it did in the movie. It was graceful, which I can't say for the Kidman makeup, although I like the way he did the rest of her face. But the nose called too much attention to itself.

I'm watching it now, and the nose doesn't make Kidman look anything like Woolf. Woolf's most distinctive feature were her hooded eyes, which Kidman doesn't have and which can't be faked with prosthetics.

They needn't have bothered with the nose.

I agree 100% with you, too.
