Quite good!

I just saw this, and I thought it was quite good. I wouldn't call it a sequel but more like a spin off of Hellraiser, so hardcore fans may be disappointed. The cenobites only make a 'guest' appearance it seems. This Helraiser was more of a story oriented mindtrip with a revelation at the end that I thought was pretty cool. Very Lynchian. Along with the modern visuals, this made for an entertaining film to watch.

I agree. I saw this movie when it was pretty new, when I was twelve or thirteen, and I don't care what people say, it scared the hell out of me. I wasn't familiar at all with the Hellraiser franchise at the time, and now watching some of the earlier films I can see why it was received so poorly by fans of the franchise, but as a stand alone horror film, I would say it's a success. To this day, I still wouldn't watch this one alone lol.

"i'm the fifth soul"!!!!!!!!

Come on please. This movie sucked. How can you watch HR I & II and then call this quite good? Am I the only person who thought this movie was quite stupid?

reply

Agreed. I for one really like Hellseeker; it is quite trippy and psychological, a nice horror/thriller combo, with a few good gore scenes, and a pretty awesome twist. Very underrated!

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)

I have to admit, I've been doing all the Hellraiser movies this October and am now up to Part 7 (Deader)...my expectations were on the floor after part III, and although part IV was as bad and "all over the place" as I thought it'd be, parts 5 & 6 turned out to be a pleasant surprise! I think if you go in KNOWING that these are standalone stories/movies..almost like an Anthology series starring Pinhead as a moderator, then they are quite enjoyable. I think that's probably why I hated V (Inferno) all these years....I was always thinking "this doesn't FEEL like a Hellraiser sequel"....now that I'm older and HOPEFULLY wiser (LOL), I'm getting enjoyment out of the made-for-video sequels....

Deader is off to a semi-slow start but it stars the ever so gorgeous Kari Wuhrer, so I plan to finish this afternoon, followed by Hellworld over the weekend....I heard and read HORRIBLE things about Revelations, but its a Hellraiser movie so I'll be finishing the 9 movie series long enough...I think its high time Clive Barker gets going on that reboot!

Agree. I happened to not watch these in order but even though I'm not done I'm still glad I did. It's been awhile since I saw that last three hell raisers when I'm looking at the actress I can't help but wonder why she looks so familiar...then it was obvious. Lol.
