So here's an explanation for those who are confused.

Let's go in order of events leading up to the end...

1. People and their relationships get off to a rocky start, yadda yadda yadda (we all know that animosity breeds love, at least in movies, anyway)

2. Antonia and Michele start hanging out, spending time and some intimate moments with eachother

3. Everyone is gathered around Ernesto's bed about to make a toast when Ernesto drops his glass. Serra says that "when glass breaks, someone you love has gone" or something to that effect.

4. All the people start teasing Michele about loving Antonia

5. Michele and Antonia share a few pained glances before she seemingly goes off to venture Europe with Emir.

6. Antonia hesitates at the airport.

7. Michele drops a glass on purpose, it doesn't break, signifying that he loves Antonia and that she didn't leave.


I'm not quite sure why Antonia thought it would be a good idea to go on a trip in the first place. Maybe the comment from her mother about getting off at the first stop had something to do with it. Or possibly the baby that was brewin' in her belleh.
