Only semi-realistic.

The county jail scenes seemed realistic. All the real jail/prison scenarios were shown there;
Sexual assault, taking down a guy who's gonna take your stuff, etc.
But the prison scenes seemed like a joke to me. I mean, he came out completely unscathed!
He was never approached by sexual predators, he was never threatened to become someone's "bitch", he never talked about having to join any "group" for protection.
the only slight mention of this was where Slim said that "SAmmytown gave him his blessing..."
So maybe it's because Sammytown was the one protecting him in the joint. But I think the director should have made this more apparent if he wanted it to seem more realistic.
