Really good stuff...

I'm not really sure, but it's probably my favorite non-musical bit in the whole movie.

[After Tony says that his vision of God looked like himself]
TONY: Well, it's written in the Bible -- God made Man in His own image.
ROB: Yeah, but not any specific man.

LOL Anyway, I would assume Tony's probably doubting himself at this point, and his "vision" turns out to be just the reassurance he needs.

The movie has two pivotal points.
The first is the sex pistols gig and the second is on the rooftop at the end of the film after the factory era has effectively ended. The beginning and end.

He describes having what he calls an epiphany after the sex pistols gig although you dont see this part in the film. But what you see at the end is very much an epiphany.

Just a way to conclude the chapter. And what more identifyable and obvious way to depict this than using theoretic idealogy

In a way a good conclusion to the film, that he finaly set out to do what he always wanted to do. So when god came down, it was basically a moment of clarity to show that his work has finished and he can rest in the knowledge as to what he has helped create.

And also to the fact that he should of sighned the Smiths . . .

Well put. This point in the story basically signified the end of an era, but Tony's vision of God was to reassure him that his efforts over the years hadn't been all for nothing.

LOL I loved that line.

...but that he was right about Mick Hucknall, his music's rubbish and he's a ginger.

And let's not forget, Vini Reilly is way overdue a revival. It's good music to chill out to.

Personally I think Durutti Column were the best Factory band. Although I'm one of only about 5 people in the world to think that.

I thought that was a cute line, too. :)

I've been looking in the local shops for some of their stuff on CD, but haven't been able to find anything yet...

Where are you? Amazon.co.uk has got loads of Durutti Column stuff, that's where I bought most of mine. Best place to start is probably with the first album, The Return of the Durutti Column.

Omaha, Nebraska.

A lot of the stuff I can't find in the shops, I can usually get on Amazon.com (that's where I bought New Order's "Singles" 2-CD set) -- I could try looking there first to see what selection and deals it has. I've never bought from Amazon.co.uk before, but I'd consider it as a last resort. :)

For the most part you get a better deal with .com because of the postage prices but there are some items though that are A LOT cheaper on .co.uk so it's worth checking both out.

Most music I buy usually comes from American sellers on Amazon's used & new section so it's a nice surprise that the UK site is cheaper for some stuff!

I often think how much easier my music-buying would be if I liked Justin Timberlake and Beyonce.

"sellers on Amazon's used & new section"

Oh, those have been a blessing. I've gotten a lot of great deals from buying used (including my 24HPP DVD).

LOL Tell me about it! The best stuff is the stuff you *really* have to look for, but at least it's worth the expense and the wait. :)

"What was with"? In a movie where we depict two members of a band seeing a UFO, did you really need to ask?

I thought it an appropriate opportunity for Wilson's character to reflect on all that had happened and very much in keeping with the overall quirky & irreverent tone of the film.

I thought it was quite funny

And the last line, like in the beginning of the film, works on different levels, with Rob saying, "It's fĂșcking top gear, man."
