Peter Kay's club - location anyone?

Anyone know what the location is for the venue run by "Mr." Don Tonay? It's many years since I lived there, but the building itself reminded me of a jolly little establishment in Hulme - but the surrounding buildings don't look right, there would have been Crescent-shaped blocks of flats around it. It certainly brought some memories back, most of them a bit faded about the edges, ha ha! Well, it was a while back...

The inside is Jillys rockworld in manchester

I did a gig there and got to the backstage and couldnt understand why i felt like i'd been there before, then i remembered, it was where they filmed Wilsons rant about Mr. Tony etc. After that, it was pretty cool walkin around the whole club and seein where the *beep* scene must have taken place etc.

in its honour we finished the night with a rendition of louie louie (just the chorus and a *beep* loada solos for ages like in the movie), the audience rushed the stage, pretty fun night allround

Yep, it's Jilly's - I worked there on the bar for a couple of years, starting not long after 24 Hours was filmed. The crew actually wrecked the shutters on the main bar during filming and they've never shut properly since - they were a proper pain in the neck to bring down at the end of the night.

It's cos Jilly's hasnt really had a penny spent on it's appearance in 30 years that it gets used for old clubs and stuff (I was expecting it to turn up in Life On Mars to be honest).

They had sex in the ladies loos. Which they couldn't do these days as they have a lovely monitor lady in there to stop that kind of thing.
They did let you kip in there when I used to go tho. There's an all nighter on fridays and those not on Speed etc. find they get sleepy at about 4am.
I've kipped next to the bar that Peter Kay was behind - ah good times. Aparrently the door people aren't cool with that anymore tho, sucks.

I fell asleep in there years and years ago and was woken by the Ghostbusters theme. For a few years from being 17 it was a regular haunt, makes me a little sad and nostalgic to see it as a Tesco express these days.

I had a little card during my youth in the 70s which admitted nurses for free. Not the 20 stone night sister type but the younger, prettier kind. I went there a lot with my friends and they had they had good acts on. I saw the Walker Brothers there. They were awesome. I saw Tony Christie as well, at the height of his fame.I have fond memories of Jilly's, it was a cheap night out for a fun loving hard up student nurse.
