Contradiction in the (cheesy) intro

The intro speaks of how she's "...drawn into a chance encounter with a supernatural weapon...", but then it goes on to saying "...each encounter will ultimately reveal her true destiny." It can't be a "chance encounter" if getting this weapon was her "destiny"!!! That cheesy intro is really bugging me, because I though the show in itself was alright.

Are you really bothered by the fact a word was used in a less than literal way? If so, consider this. Nothing in the introduction says her destiny was set in stone prior to her encountering the Witchblade. Getting the Witchblade may have been what caused her "true destiny" to be what it was. If not for that chance encounter, she might have had a different destiny.
