Song Help (SPOILERS)

I recently bought the soundtrack for this show, and I absolutely loved it (track 21, Bad Man is my favorite). However, I was disappointed because I remembered hearing a song that wasn't on the soundtrack. I started watching the show to see if I could locate it, and I found it during the Season One finale. It's the song playing when Jake gets killed. I don't know what it is about the song, but I absolutely adore it, and I would love to have a full version of it. Does anyone know how I could get a copy of it? Along those lines, is it by some band, or did Joel Goldsmith make it?

My hearing isn't the best, so I don't think my transcription of the lyrics will be very good, but I think it starts sort of like:

"Pumped up like tomorrow
Poison to the pale
Sucked into the sorrow
of the the void behind the veil...

(chorus)

Crumbs of glory to you
Lies that twist the tale
No one else can do you
like the void behind the veil..."

Any help would be greatly appreciated. As sad as it may sound, I'd be willing to buy an album just to get this song. The song has stuck with me for over ten years now, and I can't begin to describe how badly I want it.

Thanks, but unfortunately I only have the DVD version. I didn't even know they changed the music between the two. I think Cry Little Sister may appear on the DVD version too, but if so, it's in a different spot. The song I'm talking about is a totally different style.

Since the two versions apparently have different music, I may have to see if I can make a video of that part of the episode from the DVD version. That way people can know for sure which song I'm talking about.

Though if the DVD version does use different music, that makes me think I am right that it was a song written by Joel Goldsmith. If they couldn't get the rights to some of the music used in the television version, they'd likely use additional music from him. That's a sad thought because I have no idea how I'd get a copy of a song he wrote but (apparently) never released.

Anyway, I'll see if I can upload a video with the song I'm talking about. I just have to find where I put my DVDs for this show first.

I know exactly which song you're talking about because I'm also looking for it....it didn't seem like a Joel Goldsmith song, but I'm on the hunt for it and if I find it, I'll def come back and post it here *^^)b

I've had no luck finding this song. I tried to rip the audio from the episode, but I'm afraid I couldn't figure out how to do it. The only audio I could get was incredibly choppy and thus useless.

I'm starting to think I'll need to contact people involved with making the show. I don't know how to go about that though. Who would I contact? How would I find contact information for them? I'm at a loss as to what to do. It's kind of sad, but I'd happily pay money to have a full copy of this song.

Some time back, I paid $50 bucks for a movie marathon at an AMC theater. I wasn't particularly impressed by the movies, and I think I'd have been disappointed except for one thing: I heard the song "Never Been to Athens" by Alphanaut. It was played as filler music between movies, and I fell in love with it. That alone was worth the $50 I paid.

I would pay twice that for a copy of this song. Without thinking. I really want it.

Yeah ripping a track from a dvd is hard, especially if there's action going on while the song's playing ...& rarely do you ever get the full song. (sometimes not even the closing credits on a movie will have the complete track)
Ok I've really tried tracking this down and the problem is that song (along with the rest on the dvds) is not listed, like, AnyWhere! So far. But, I haven't come close to giving up & I did get this bit of advice from a very helpful person:

"Yea, those songs are pretty much impossible to find. They are so underground and obscure to the point of not even being leaked on the internet unless its by the artist themselves. The only way I see to find out is to email and ask the producer himself who personally selected the new music, Ralph Hemecker"

Soooo...maybe it's worth a shot. I haven't looked that up yet myself tho'....

(..and I do know the song you mentioned, not that it's in total obscurity, I seem to gravitate towards the obscure & am usually pretty good at finding things!)

I'd be okay with the sound of show mixed in with the song. At least it'd be something. But I couldn't get even that. I just couldn't figure out a way to get the sound ripped from the DVD. I could rip a messed up/choppy version of the audio, but that was the best I managed.

As for the song not being listed anywhere, believe me, I know. I have both albums released for this show, and I've looked at dozens of sites listing songs for (episodes of) this show. None have helped. Which reminds me, I haven't even been able to find Conchobar's song. I know I found the band which backs the actor playing Conchobar, but I couldn't find the song he sings in the show. Have you happened to come across a full version of it?

As for contacting Ralph Hemecker, I've considered trying to contact people involved in the show (I didn't have his name though). I just don't know how to go about doing that. How do you contact someone like that? Is there a phone number or e-mail address posted somewhere or what?

By the way, if you know of Alphanaut, I love you. I've never met anyone who has heard of them before (discounting people I introduced to the band). I remember the first time I looked up Never Been to Athens on YouTube; it had fewer than 100 views. I've been trying to get more people to try it out.

Oh! I just remembered another song I want to find. It's name is Instrumental. As far as I know, it only received radio play in Oklahoma, United States, over a decade ago. The song was an entry to a radio station's Battle of the Bands competition (I think the station was 105.7, The Point, but I might be wrong). It wound up winning, and I fell in love with it. The problem is the name makes it almost impossible to search for. Too many songs are titled "Instrumental."

I think I'm going to try calling up the radio stations in the Oklahoma City area and see if I can track that song down. It's been ages since I last heard it, but it goes something like:

It's monumental...
A song with words, named Instrumental
That could easily be mistaken for
Any other song you've heard before

The first line I listed had more to it, but I can't remember the second half. I can hum it, but the words just won't come. It might be enough to track the song down though.

Wish me luck. I'm good at searching for things on the internet, but I kind of suck when it comes to talking to actual people.

Hey guys. I just wanted to say while I've had no luck finding the song I discuss in this topic, I have posted the scene with it on YouTube. I can't vouch for its audio quality, but it's a start!

Maybe the song isn't anything that special. I don't know. What I do know is I have a fifty dollar bill in my pocket, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hand it to someone who gave me a full copy of the song. I don't even buy studio albums for ~$15, but I'd buy this song for $50.

That should give you an idea of how much I love it.

Woah! I love you!

How'd you find it?

I tried to do the same thing, but for some reason, the first word of that line never sounded like "boy" to me. Thanks for solving the problem for me.

So I bought the song. The first time I listened to it, it seemed weird. It's different than you might expect from the part used for this show. I wasn't happy at first, but then I listened to it a few times. Once I got past the "idea" I had from listening to the part in the show, I realized it couldn't have gone the 4:23 it goes without the variations that initially threw me off. That let me embrace it as a whole song rather than just a clip.

In other words, it's the same thing that happens with previews, sequels, remakes, film adaptations and so many other things. It wasn't what I expected so my first instinct was it sucks. Once I got past that, I loved it.

So thank you greatly! You rock!

Question. Would people want me to upload the song to YouTube?

If so, what image should I use (I'm not going to make a video)?

I've uploaded the full song. You can find it here:

Thanks Xen11 for directing me to it. I'll always be grateful for that. I meant what I said earlier about paying to find a full version of the song. I had to spend a little money downloading this song, but I'd happily transfer the remainder to Xen11 since he directed me to it.

What do you say Xen11? I'll gladly transfer $40 to you as a finder's fee if you'd like. Just give me an account I can make the transfer to. I'm not exactly wealthy, but $40 is a small price to pay for the joy you've helped bring me. The song isn't what I expected, but it's something I'll always treasure.

(As for the image, I decided to go with something from my favorite television show ever, Freakylinks. It has no bearing on the song. It's just awesome.)

Dude! Awesome! I'd just about given up on it, but thought I'd give it another try after some time had passed & just happened to check here first...that is definitely the song and thank you so much! *^^)b
