Favourite Character?

It's so hard to choose a fave character, but if I HAD to choose, like life-or-death situation, it would be Lofty. Or Bill. They're both so cool, and mathmatical! Except, Lofty's kind of hopelessly dead, so I'm not sure about that one. Or Curley, because he's really cute!

What do you guys reckon? Who's your favourite??

"Sardines! Wacko! But how do we catch 'em?"
"...Easy, Curl, they come in tins."
"Oh."

BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!!

I like David the most. He's just so Auzzie! Curly comes in at a close second.

Rowdy for me. Such a well done, and well performed character. Remained in control of himslef and his men the whole time, without sacrificing either their dignity or his own, earning the respect of all six of the secret nine in the process. TO me it is most defined near the end of episode 6... when they drink a toast and Gordon, despite being unable to walk anymore, insists that he's going to stand for this one, because a finer man never drew breath.

To me THAT defines the respect Australians have for our dearest mates. Nearly 60 years later nothing is too good for Rowdy and Gordon will show his respect, to honour their old mate, no matter how difficult that may be.

That and it was written by John Doyle, who did a great speech not long ago on the condition of the Australian TV industry... and he's always been brilliant as Roy Slavin from Roy and HG.

Curley. Particulaly old Curley. (Not a hard acting role though, Slim DeGray is actually a Changi survivor.)

It's got to be Eddie or Gordan. So funny! And sarcastic. And the fact that Eddie has to *beep* all the time.

I would definately go for Bill - it was one of my fav episodes too. I just thought he was so smart, sensitive and handsome! I thought it was heartbreaking when he went home - and his girl had gone and married another bloke. I like the mix of romance, humour and tension in his episode.
Did i mention - spunk?

"Everything in this room is eatable. Even I'm eatable. But that’s called cannibalism."

Curley was adorable. He had a heart of gold.

I agree with filmfan - Bill is the one in real life whom I'd most have liked. But I did find many enjoyable to watch - especially Curly.

Rowdy. He is so obviously based on Weary Dunlop, but still a great character and a wonderful performance from Geoff Morrel.
Best Aussie mini-series I've ever seen. :D

Gordy won me over standing on the box like that. But really all the lads. This is a really great series and showing the lads in their early life and later life made it easy to become invested in their characters. The mini-series is a nice reminder of how much we owe the lads who served in WW2. Well done ABC!
