What do you suppose happened to the two of them after they make good their escape? As much as I would like to indulge my romantic side and think that the two of them realize that they truly want to spend the rest of their lives together, I would have to say that they probably eventually separate - I think their personalities are just too divergent. Divergent and not complementary. I would love it if anyone could give evidence to the contrary.
shareI don't think that you can tell if they separate eventually. This story certainly does not aim to the "happily ever after", but what I gathered is that if they don't actually marry, have kids and stay together for the rest of their lives, at least their relationship will be very torrid, and one that will have a really lasting impression on both of them, so I guess that the separation would not happen for quite a while.
And I disagree on the fact that they don't complement each other, more like the complete opposite.
I got the impression they would live some wild sort of Bonnie and Clyde lifestyle. Y'know, where they get to live 'happily ever after' and meanwhile everyone else goes to *beep* (Hopefully they won't get shot to bits but who knows.)
I don't think the future is so important though, rather what they've 'learned' from the relationship. He is no longer solitary; she is no longer invisible. They've changed each other, which is quite romantic, I guess!

I think you've hit upon it. Whether or not they stay together is unimportant. The experience they've had together is life changing. That's the point of the movie. I liked it a lot. In spite of the criminal context I thought it was very uplifting. :-)
shareThat's exactly how I feel about the ending. Who cares what happens afterwards? The end is just so deliciously amazing that you cannot help but enjoy it. A friend of mine and I were cheering the entire time, "Yay! They banged!"
shareHe was going to skip town after he secured the money and leave her. They were an intriguing couple and I'd like to think that they stay together but, realistically, he probably ditched her not long after they stole the money.
