Danny's 'Concert' Scene in the Club/Bar

When Danny played guitar and sang that God-Awful song in a rehearsal at the club/bar, while his friend jumped around stupidly like it was a Rolling Stones Concert....what was the point of having this scene?

It had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the movie. Am I missing something?

It shows how people like them ignore life just to play the game. His best friend and brother were not there because of the game.

I agree with his friend skipping out because of playing Brad, but wasn't Johnny at work at the time? I believe he was working and Tara was shown watching him from her car for a moment. He didn't skip the performance by choice.

I think it tied in with the scene when Danny and Johnny were in the pawn shop, and Danny was getting his guitar back. I also got the feeling they were trying to show that these two could have aspired to different jobs but hustling was easier money for them. Kind of like a "I sell drugs" metaphor.

But you know, many scenes are cut from the final version of films. I suspect there was much more "back story" that hit the cutting room floor... probably for the sake of too much time/footage to be included. Character development in other words.

Somebody's got to go back and get a sh!t load of dimes!
