Sandra was forbiden to see Genie because

She only wanted to do more research on her & use her

That ain't true, that's what Genie's mother said, but what did her mother know? Nothing much obviously, she stayed married to that man, let him do as he wished, it wasn't until Genie was almost 14 that she decided to do anything, and then she took Genie away from the people that actually cared about her.

I feel that Genie's mother only felt that way, after Judy shared her insights about the article written about the Katie Team. I have no idea why Judy felt she was doing Katie any good, by constantly harrassing Sandra. Maybe she felt Katie was her only chance for a child, but given how she treated Katie more like an object instead of a human being, I feel Judy wouldn't have been able to care for a child properly anyways.

It's hard to say why Genie's mother and Judy were so set on treating Katie as a pawn for their own objectives, rather than leaving the girl with Sandra who loved her genuinely. I mean, did they prove anything by letting Katie go to a foster home where she was abused again?

Well, according to the movie it was actually Sandra's idea that Genie should go to a foster home instead of an institution as Genie's mom first suggested.
I do think Sandra was right that a foster home would be better than an institution, but I guess they lucked out with the religious nut family.

To me it was obvious Judy disliked Sandra from the get-go because she wanted Genie for herself and could tell that she and Sandra shared a strong bond. She tried to use Sandra's article against her, trash talked her to Genie's mom and basically used Genie's mom as a pawn. I think Genie's mom was just confused and trying to do what was best for her daughter and really thought Sandra was bad for her.

I agree. Anything can sound bad depending on the way you say it. Especially when its such a sensitive subject such as this.

I don't understand why the real Susan Curtiss is still shut out from seeing her to this day. How well does the 'restraining order' or whatever Genie's mother have against Sandra if she is deceased and Susan STILL can't see Genie?
