The dead bodies all over the place in NYC. IIRC, people were just dropping dead from lack of love, or somesuch. Everyone on this board is obsessed with the floating Africans - I was much more impressed by the dead people on the streets.
shareAnd that got a back-handed slap when the drunk guy was trying to rob the sleeping man on the subway, assuming the sleeper was dead like others he had probably encountered. So, even the so-called dead were not dead after all. Same thing happened when John fainted--the little boy had assumed he was dead. I'm sure most of the audience felt like that's what was happening as well, since it seemed like it was part of the landscape of the film up to that point as well. Choppy script with all kinds of "holes" like that.
