I hate endings like this

What the hell happened to the characters, and the rest of the world for that matter? Of course I know that everybody were taken by the dark at the end, but I want to know what happened to them after that. Did they just die, were they sent to some purgatory, were they wiped out of existence, were they transformed into evil demons like the other children and those at the old picture, or something else? And like I said, what about the rest of the world? I don't know, and neither does the others who saw the movie, so one can just guess and assume, but nothing more.

The reason why many hate this and similar movies is because they get confused (or pretends to be smart by creating their own versions of what happened). Well, I wasn't confused in the sense that I didn't understand what was shown to us, but I am frustrated because of all the questions that will never be answered. I blame the scriptwriters for this, it seems they to not have imagination enough to satisfy the audience when it really counts. Some amount of mystic and questions must remain, but only to a certain point.

This film was an absolute piece of $hit, so stop trying to analyze it. It sucked monkey ball$ and let it go at that. Just another waste of time in your life you'll never get back.

I guess if you lack the intellectual capacity to understand everything a little more intricate than your toaster, you would indeed be upset and annoyed at your own inadequacies.

Come to think of it, the workings of your toaster are probably beyond you as well.

Yes, because the fact it's a *beep* movie must somehow reflect negatively on the poster's intelligence.

What I think happens is that everyone gets pulled into Hell, including Anna Paquin, Lena Olin, the boyfriend, and the little brother.

As for what happens then, I'd imagine it's the most ghastly, unspeakable horrors and tortures you can imagine...for all eternity.

That's why it's a horror movie. Mean, nasty stuff.

My interpretation was that once the ritual was completed, the "darkness" was set free- it could go anywhere now, and was not contained within the house. The force could wreak havoc wherever it wanted now, and claim however many lives it wanted. So, yes, presumably, it did take over the world, but the movie never went that far with it, it left us to make up our own minds of what followed. All we know for absolute sure (in context of the movie) is that it did in fact claim Regina, Paul, their mother, and Carlos.

kind of like this existence, actually. right underneath the surface of civility, lies a lot of evil in a lot of people. actually, sometimes evil people can really rule for awhile or oppress good people. it's literally like they are agents of the devil or evil. it plays out in real life too. it's just that good and bad tend to go in cycles as one has more leverage at a certain time and vice versa. for instance, back in the '80's rightwing dark spirited people were much more in power than today which is more enlightened.

You're confused. In the 80's, people were more moral, believed in fighting for freedom, opposed the killing of the unborn, and opposed government oppression.

Today, people are weaker and dumber, are unwilling to fight oppression and evil, and are willing to allow government to dominate their lives if it frees them from personal responsibility.

I hope this helps.

reply

Ah yes, the 80s, known throughout history as a moral golden age! ha.

my gosh
use your imagination
it's not bad if it doesn't explain everything to you like you're four
it just expects you to be smarter

reply

Please explain what happened then, with your brilliant imagination.

Just understand it will only be your personal opinion, as the OP noted. Because the film doesn't explain, or even really indicate, what actually happened.

(If it took over the world, why bother to trick the kids?)

That's one of the reasons it sucks.

reply

If people wanted to use their imagination then they wouldn't have watched a movie to begin with. A movie is a story that's told to you. It's supposed to be the writer, director and cast's imagination, not the viewers.

reply

The ending was good, but the rest was boring.
