Song in background?? help please

what was the song played in the background on episosde 6 when ray von is fitting a car alarm in max's car. it sounds 80's.

reply

I take it you mean when Paddy drives up?? If so I think it's "Body Talk" by Imagination.

I've turned into such a Phoenix Nights nerd!!!

No it wasn't body talk...I was trying to find out too but no luck?

reply

Was it changed for the DVD release then?? That's what I'm basing my guess on. I think they said at one point that there were some things they had to change in terms of music because they couldn't get clearance to use some tracks, such as wanting to use Summer of '69 in the ep with Keith Lard. I think in the commentary there was some mention of Tarzan Boy by Baltimora for that particular scene.

Still so sad!!!!

It is Tarzan Boy by Baltimora – a friend has it on a double album called THE BEST ONE HIT WONDERS IN THE WORLD... EVER! (LOL!) The distinctive, repeating 'Who-hoo, ho-ha-ho-wha-hooey ooh-ooh Who-ah!' bit can be heard as Max and Paddy drive up. The series takes a lot of care about music; Peter Kay himself is responsible for the revival of the career of Tony 'Is This the Road to Amarillo' Christie in the UK. So why is there no SOUNDTRACK listing for this series here on IMDb? There are lots of funny moments n the show punctuated by familiar and not-so familiar relics from the UK charts.

It's good innit!!!

I love the fact that there's some fab music in the show. Ones you remember, ones you don't know - it's all good!!!!

Love it!!!

I really think they should issue a soundtrack CD, because there were some great songs on Phoenix Nights. I'm sure they could even get a double album out of it.

You wouldn't know a joke if it got up and gave you a haircut - Edmund Blackadder

reply

Thats weird as on my dvd and on the commentary for the dvd even Peter Kay says its body talk by imagination and i should know as my mum used to play it non stop in the 80's every bleedin long car trip

Thats a good yahoo there son! - City Slickers

reply

See, that was my original response. Having listened to the what was said on the commentary a bit more, it was probably changed for the DVD release. Something else they said was that certain tracks couldn't be cleared for the DVD. An example, which I'm sure many of the girlies (and possibly some of the lads) will appreciate was from Series 2. Not sure about what they played when it first aired, but they did mention that originally Lord Love Rocket was played to Walk This Way by Run DMC, but was changed to Let's Get Ready To Rumble!!!

When paddy dances to lord love rocket can somebody tell me the title and artist to the song? thnx

reply

On the DVD it's "Let's Get Ready to Rumble" by PJ & Duncan (aka Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly)

I don't know about on the actual aired version, but on the DVD commentary there was mention of using "Walk This Way" by Aerosmith/Run DMC

Anyone know of the (possible) album name the pan-pipe music is from? I'm watching S1-Episode-1 (yet again!) and just after Spencer does his AledJones/nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-19 bit (heh) it cuts to Brian - in the background it sounds like a pan-pipe Candle in the Wind by Elton John. Sounds nice though!

It's simply cheaper to use a sound-a-like version of a song. You still have to pay the song wirting royalty, but not the performance one, which are more expensive than getting some session singers cover version.

My cousin did all the sound alikes for 'Bo Selecta'.
