I recall there being reference to some type of accident, and at one point they talk about how much she liked to ski before she became wheelchair bound.
shareShe fell out of a tree a few years before the show started... and, actually, she did not care for skiing (although she was very active). She just hated the fact that she COULDN'T ski.
