I just saw the last episode of the first season (#13 Quetzlcoatl) and was upset that the show ended that way. I really do hope a second season is in the works. If they were only going to make one season, they could have ended it with the dad and the gorgos stone being found and recaptured. Kind of a rip off IMHO.

I heard somewhere that there is (or at least was) supposed to be a second season. Everyone is supposed to still be in contracts, but they can't get the funding for the show. So I really don't know what's happening. I didn't like the show all that much at first, I thought it was okay, but then it grew on me and I absolutely love it now. (Kinda strange how that can happen). I still haven't seen all the episodes. But I think the only ones I've missed have been the first and the last one, so I actually don't know how it ends. They're still being shown where I live, so hopefully I'll get to find out that way.

It ended the way that it did, because at the time, there was every intention of going into a second season. The cast and crew were all prepared to come back, the sets were still standing, the network was very happy with the first season, and wanted more.

What happened was, they lost one of their major financial backers, and weren't able to find a new source of funding in time to get the show up and running again.

Rumour has it that they are still trying to bring the show back...though at this stage, they'd likely have to recast.

I too am having withdrawral symptoms! I absolutely love this show. I have written to the company that makes it and I've asked if its still in production. Ill post what they said when I get a reply.

Funding. If it's not "ratings" (they never take into account people who record these shows in America), it's funding. Especially in Canada, where the film and television industry hit a major roadblock a few years ago.
Each year, the Canadian government gives a budget to the Canadian Film and Television Fund (or whatever it's called), which is supposed to be earmarked for Canadian productions. That year, however, a large chunk of that money instead went to American productions with Canadian backing. By the time the mistake was realized, the annual fund had just about dried up, and a lot of popular Canadian shows bit the dust that year. I dread to think if MythQuest may have been one of them.
Shame. Great show, deserved a second season, deserved a resolution to that cliffhanger mentioned elsewhere in this thread (haven't seen the episode yet) - guys, if you're reading this, please let's have a DVD release at the very least, and a second season if possible. This show deserves it. Thanks.

will you she let us know when the second season will be comming? I live in the US and haven't seen anything about it since 2001 and am so depressed! I need mythquest!

reply

i miss myth quest too! i really want to see what happens. even if they can only get enough funding for one more season i think it would be worth it, i think the last one i saw was the one with Set and the crook and flail.

ahhhh i want myth quest back!!!

If you have nothing further to say, then, pray...scat!

dartking's information was incorrect, they never started filming a second season of the show. Apparently the production company is attemtping to bring the show back again. No idea whether any of the original cast will be back.

I realize no one has posted on this thread for quite a while… oh, well…
I would also love for the show to come back for another season, though at this point, it probably won’t be happening. I can’t even describe how sad this is to me. I started watching this show really randomly when I was flipping through the channels one night way back in 2003, and was hooked within minutes, if not seconds (what can I say? Christopher Jacot is pretty hot). After a few weeks, I found out two of my friends were watching it as religiously as I was, when it (again, randomly) came up in conversation. Never before had we agreed on a one-time movie, much less a reoccurring TV show, so any show that appeals this much to the fantasy/sci-fi geek, the museum lover, and the mystery-drama watcher is spectacular. For the first time in our friendship, we now had a show to talk about: “Did you see what happened yesterday on MythQuest?!”…
Plus, I’m all the way down in Texas. Basically, as far removed from Canada as you can get on the English-speaking part of the North American continent. In fact, I’ve met many more Canadians outside of North American than I have in Texas. So, even if a second season was made, would it actually make it to me?!?
