Slightly different take

I used to be a script reader for the Los Angeles Independant Film Festival and this was one of the scripts I got. After all the absolute crap I had to read, this was brilliant and delightful and I gave it very high marks. For years I wondered if anyone ever ended up making it and I was excited when I finally got to see it on HBO.

Um...well, it was still humorous at times but... the execution of the script wasn't half as entertaining as the story that went on in my mind as I was reading it. The words were still the same but somehow I thought everything was much more hilarious before I saw the final product.

The only thing I could figure was that a lot of the whimsy was lost in the medium of film and there really should have been someone else playing the lead. The writing was great so that's not what I blame for this movie seeming to fall flat.
