what the !@#$?

I did not understand this movie. Ganted I fell asleep during it, which I am not not known to do during movies (that ought to say something), but I really did not understand the plot or the ending. I even watched parts of it over again to try and make sense of it. The series of spooky and disturbing images had an affect, but images alone do not a good horror flick make or at least a film worth a couple hours of my life. Can anyone shine the light of clarity on this film for me?

Basically it is an abstract movie about what a descent into hell may be like. I thought that this movie was pretty effective for what it was, a low budget indie horror film that did not conform to norms usually relied on for these types of films (Mystery killer, cheap looking monster, etc.). This movie seems to be more influenced by abstract, art house film than it does from low-budget horror. Everyone has different takes on movies though, and this is mine. I can understand why someone would not like it.

One more point, though. If you fell asleep through any movie, you would probably be a little hard pressed to understand it. This applies to Desecration or any mainstream movie as well, you know?

This is a great example of energetic, indie filmamking. While long on style, I'm still trying to figure out if there was any substance story wise, Desecration is a great exercise in the triumph of imagination over budget. Although, only recommended for fans of abstact and surrealistic indie or horror films.
