The legend behind the Jersey Devil goes back before the prescecence of Coloumbus, it has been arround as long as bigfoot and the yeti, nessie etc. I am a firm believer that all legends are based in someway in fact. So yes I do believe in the Jersey Devil and I have driven through the Pine Barrens and it is a area that unless you are a moron can not help but respect and beleive it could hide this creature what ever it is with ease. As for the way it was dipicted in the movie, give me a break, if there was a creature killing like the one in the movie it would make national headlines.

Acually I have senn the Jersy Devil. Two years ago I was visiting a friend in southern New Jersy and I was taking some pictures when something ran through the woods next to my car. I went out to take a closer look and I found myself staring at some sort of winged dog in the bushes.

You can watch it all on the tv.
It'll be the last program you'll ever see

growing up in S. NJ, I totally believe there is something out there. Who knows?? Ive seen and talked to people tha would soil themselves just by the topic being brought up. Try finding someone with that reaction about bigfoot. The Pine Barrens is a piece of land that time has forgotten. New Jersey is a rather small state, but when you enter the Barrens, you think you are in a forest comparable to the National Redwood Forest. I have never heard the lore beind the 13th child, but I have heard some pretty believable stories. All in all, Its out there. Im sure of it.

It's obvious to me that the producers of this film had 1979's ALIEN in mind when they designed the creature. I made that connection right away. Have you noticed in those quick close-ups when the monster peels back his lips and bares his teeth, he looks just like the fully-formed creature in ALIEN? In fact, he even more so resembles the queen alien from the 1986 sequel, ALIENS. They both sported these long, curved, razor-sharp teeth.

I would agree with you, arrenquinha. I think it is a type of unknown animal that zoologists have yet to classify. The Jersey Devil has begotten an unfair reputation, thanks to practical jokers and drunken tales. Maybe if people put aside their skepticism and worked towards trying to capture one of those creatures, it would be a worthwhile thing to study.

Well, once i was camping with my mother and father in north Wildwood (almost near the pine barrings (sp?)) and we were staying in a log cabbin, in a park almost, with a few other cabbins. At 3 in the morning while everyone was asleep, something landed on our cabbin and shook it. And im talking about a real log cabbin, it would have had to have been heavy to shake it. After the thing landed on the cabbin my family heard a claw mark, like it was trying to get back onto its feet, then we heard nothing else for the rest of the night. In the morning we checked to see if something could have fell out of a tree onto the cabbin, but the area around the cabbin was cleared of trees. That is the main reason, why i think the jersey devil is real.

I'd suggest finding a local, buying a jug of Pine Lightnin', getting toasty and seeing all kinds of things.

The glass is half full. Of poison.

Lots of things in this world have yet to be discovered. Maybe we have not been to every strip of land the world has to offer. Maybe we haven't discovered every animal on the plane. Maybe we haven't discovered another human civization in space. I have always been a believer in cryptids. I am planning on writing a novel on numerous unproven creatures of the planet Earth! I read a post on the Stephen King's "It"(1990)message board a few months ago that made me think of the Jersey Devil.

The poster said that there is a cult that visits the woods behind his house to make sacrifices to a "creature". He says also that one night he went back into the woods and saw that the group was doing a ceremony and they saw him. He also believes that he caught s glimpse of the creature. He says that he never travels into the woods ever since that happened. He claims to see bones laying around in the woods a lot. Is this a Jersey Devil sighting? I think so!

Im from Southern New Jersey and Ive lived in the middle of the pine barrens. Ive had many strange happenings at night in the woods and I do believe there is something out there in the Woods of the Jersey Pines that just cant be explained......

I have lived in South Jersey my whole life, and live at the southern end of the Pine Barrens. I cannot say I know it is real or anything, but I have heard a wierd noise or 2 at night in the woods throughout the years. Whenever an unidentified noise like that occurs, the Jersey Devil does not immediately come to mind, but you never know. I think its really fun to have something like that around here. I personally am a huge cryptozoology fan and if I saw the Jersey Devil, it would be well worth the scare.

I have not seen this movie, and I know its probably going to be horrible, but I want to see it out of curiosity.

I also wanna be a writer and a filmmaker. One of my forst books is gonna be a book about the jersey devil. Its the first in a series of cryptid books Im gonna make. I hope theyll be made into films. Just saying. And yes i do believe in the jersey devil.

reply

Yes I totally believe in the Jersey Devil because some years ago when I was driving on Jimmie Leeds Rd. out near Galloway Township in the Pine Barrens to see my friend Robin, I was kinda lost and looking for the local Medical Center which was a landmark for me to find. well I'm just driving down the road and out jumps this,, I don't know what to call it,, huge monstrous dog,, flying super bat god knows what it was, I darn near ran off of the road, this occurred late 1990's , and to this day I will never forget the sheer terror that I experienced that night,, and I hadn't had a drop of alcohol either, stone cold sober that night..

are you going to bark all day little doggie,, or are you going to bite
