Charlie Hunnam was offered a role in Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Latest Men's Health has a feature on Charlie Hunnam. Apparently he was offered the role of Aldous Snow (Russell Brand's character) in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Jason Segel wrote the role with him in mind actually) that starred Jason Segel.

I do think Brand is the better choice, but it would have been awesome for another mini Undeclared reunion. It does give me a bit of hope that maybe one day he'll be in an Apatow flick again~

He also didn't give himself enough credit about comedy (another reason why he turned the role down). I thought he was great in Undeclared.

Aw, Charlie Hunnam would've been great! Very funny, charming, charismatic guy. Only he's too good-looking. 'Aldous Snow' has to be a bit grunge, you know? A bit sleazy. A bit '80s porno. He could've grown a beard. But then I can't imagine a world without Russell Brand...

I'm actually watching old 'Undeclared' eps right now. Thank God for YouTube!

In the original draft for Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The character was called William and was a British writer. But when Russell came in, he looked like a rock star, cause he was dressed like one. and they decided to rework the character to be a rock star more to fit him.

I would have much rather Charlie be in the movie. I cannot stand Russell Brand.

Agreed

I can't stand him either. I actually maybe would've liked the movie if Charlie was in it instead. And I could definitely see him as a cocky celebrity. He was very believable and funny as the arrogant but charming and attractive guy in Undeclared so it could work. What a shame now just thinking about it.

Lloyd is such a cool character. He gets even more laid back as the series progresses. I love every time he asks Steven, "Are you a man?"

reply

That would have been really interesting to see. I love Charlie.

I'm glad he didn't take it. Sleazy Brand was the only good thing in Sarah Marshall and led to the superior "Get him to the Greek".

I loved Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I thought Paul Rudd with the '*beep*' was hilarious. I also thought Jack McBrayer was hilarious.
