I could only watch about 30 minutes of this dvd. The sound was weak, and there were no subtitles, so I had a bit of trouble with the dialects. I really like Daniel Craig and wanted to see the whole film, but found it very sloooooow, among other things.
sharefanaticita, i totally agree. i'm making myself finish the whole thing so i can check another one off the daniel craig filmography. i love him to bits, but not even his constant presence in this kept my attention.
shareIt's kind of a running gag in the books that NOTHING ever happens. Like, something exciting will be about to happen, then something will happen to prevent the main character from being there.
THey are really god books, but they aren't really known for action, so I'm surprised anyone ever wanted to adapt them at all as they aren't the most cinematic.
I too had to turn way up ... and totally missed having subs. Those UK accents are hard for this Yank to decipher ... but I stayed the course and I am glad I did! I think this film captures the WW2 experience very well.
