Why were the episodes rearranged on the DVD set?

I was just wondering if anyone happened to know why some of the episodes were rearranged from their airing order? According to epguides.com, they weren't aired in production order, but neither are they now on the DVD set, so that can't be why. Anyone?

I read somewhere that this the order that Leary wanted them organized after the show was canceled because the story lines build up as the episodes go on.
