Was this really a pilot?

This 'movie' seems like it was really an attempt at a pilot for a series. Which would explain why there were characters in the title sequence that weren't in the movie, they may have been saved for later episodes. It would explain the cheap animation and the lack of decent fight scenes. It also seems like it might've been two episodes put together, right at the halfway point is when Heihachi Mishima comes out into the open, perfect cliffhanger between episodes.

If that's the case, I can understand why it wasn't picked up. Even as a series, it's still pretty boring.

The only thing that was good about this movie was that it explained how Jun got involved with Kazuya in the first place. And how she ended up giving birth to Jin. Now that I think about it, I think making a movie sequel to this one was rather pointless seeing that Anna and Lee were both killed in the island. At least it left some questions answered on Jin's storyline. I guess playing Tekken 3 afterwards help explain a few things on his part.

I wouldn't say it was boring, I still kinda enjoyed it. I just wished it didn't suck though. I know it was hard for the creators to focus on all of the characters, I understand that part. But what really pissed me off the most was that they decide to pointlessly kill off Anna and Lee for no good reason. I wish they did a Street Fighter anime series type thing (or the animated movie) then I might really like it. At least this way they'll be able to focus on each of the characters' storylines and make it so much better.

Actually if I recall correctly, we never see Anna or Lee's dead body so if they were to make a sequel, they could be broughten back. (Hey, they got Dinosaurs, Cyborgs, and Demon Possesion, I guess character surviving those situations could be possible!)

Maybe Lee survived the explosion and was horribly scarred. He got plastic surgery and changed his idenitity (Violet perhaps?), as for Anna, it could easily be stated that her sister left her for dead as she was bitten and another character rescued her (perhaps a way to bring Brian Fury into the storyline) Well those are just examples, just a way to show that if the writers truely wanted too, bringing characters back would be no problem.

I really would love an animated sequel. Merging Tekkens 3-5 into one. I really would love to see Hwoarang and Jin.

But since this film did so horribly, I figure a sequel would never happen. I suppose, a decade or so down the line, someone would make another Tekken animated movie, but it would probably ignore the events in the first movie.

This is 5 years since this was originally posted, so this is somewhat irrevental now. I can see the point about the low production value and long winded story. I could easily believe it was originally a tv series pilot.
I really didn't care about the Mishima's or Jun, so I couldn't imagine tuning in every week to see them.

Having the best characters as extras insured this movie would be a failure.
