Why do people say this is similar to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai?

I really enjoyed this movie as well as Kuch Kuch Hota Ha and the only similarities I see are

1. Rani Mukherjee
2. The phrase "Mujhse Dosti Karoge"

In Mujhse Dosti Karoge Raj and Pooja have to keep their love for each other a secret ... in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Rahul and Anjali are given a second chance at making a love connection.

WHY do so many people say the plot is similar? Explain it to me bedcause I am just not getting it! Either those people are crazy, or I am.

Well here are a few.

Rahul and Raj fall for the "pretty" girl rather than their best friend first.

Rahul and Raj only get Anjali and Pooja when the girls are very nearly married to another guy, who is sacrificing and gentlemanly and realizes without being told that his betrothed belongs with another man.

The sacrifice for friendship Anjali and Pooja each give up the man they love.

Hrithik and Shahrukh sing "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" to Rani.

The importance of bracelets in the films. Rahul's friendship bracelet and Raj's mother's engagement bracelets.

There are your reasons as well as mine. There are others some silly and others not so much, the point being if you really try you can see the similarities but you can say that of many movies in the same genre. In general I am inclined to agree with you, there really aren't that many similarities but there are only so many ways you can develop a love triangle, quadrangle, whatever it is. So much of it has to do with point of view.
