This movie was... actually quite good (Spoilers)

As much as many seem to dislike this movie I thought it was actually really good. Am I talking Oscar good? No, but it was a good movie. I thought the main characters were good, the main characters dead grandmother was a clever touch. The gay roomates were excellent(and not overboard or overly assinine, that seems to happen too often in movies with gay characters who are comic relief) I found the three picture deal at the end to be just hilarious. There were only three shortcomings in my oppinion: One, the name of the movie (It just sucks, it seems like a Cop-out of a tittle "according to the main character" there was just more potential in the plot for a better, more clever tittle). Two, The resolution about the main characters showing their love for each other was close to being beautiful and original, but the girls dialog just falls short (just flat really) at the end. Three, The grandmother and her advice while a very good idea, the follow-through was good, but it had such great potential (I.E. It was good but it could have been great, the actress was good, the writing was good, but the character was in the picture just a hair to little). Again this is not to say it wasn't a good movie, I enjoyed it very much. If you enjoy this, and haven't seen Garden state(or vice versa), I recomend it because it falls in the same vein.

I love this movie! Its one of those movies that I can watch over and over again and not get tired of. I think the acting in the movie is very believeable unlike many others. The characters are flawed and they have embarrasing moments and they trip over words just like any other person would.

i have actually watched this film more than once. it always seems to be on cable! i thought i was done with the romantic comedy genre, but this one seemed fresh and the two leads have a lot of chemistry. the film had a kind of homemade feel to it that was charming. i imagine the writer probably based a lot of the material his personal experiences (the grandmother especially!)

I agree with most of what you've said here about this movie. I don't think it was as bad as a lot of the posters claim. I really liked Jesse Bradford in the title role and Adam Goldberg was hysterical. I agree that the final dialogue between the two leads was rather corny and that they should have used Florence Stanley a little more as the Grandmother. I also agree with you that the title of the movie sucks. I think they could have come up with something a little more imaginative. The title is misleading...it gives the lead character this God-like persona, which he was so not.
