Since there are a couple of recent pictures of Meriam still living in the US, then why did the articles say that she went back home when she never did? Does anyone I mean anyone who truly do know her actually have any idea?

She was reported to have returned home shortly after 9/11 out of fear for reappraisals against Muslims (many Islamists left the USA at that time for the same reason). This fear apparently overcame her fear of what might happen if she returned home.
But, as far as I know - she returned after about a year away and is still in the USA.
