Prot's last conversation with Jeff Bridges

Curious but Prot said something very interesting to Jeff Bridges at the very end of the movie. It was after Bridges

told him that he and Robert Porter are the same person.

Prot said and I don't think I am quoting this correctly," Please make sure that Robert gets the very best care"

Jeff bridges was very moved by this but even more than that, i was interested as to what prot mean't by this

statement and secondly, why would jeff bridges appear moved?

At first I thought it was a cry for help from Robert Porter in the only way he knew. It made me believe that

based upon what happened to Robert, this was the only way he could reach out.

Just wondering what other peoples thoughts are.

I assume he said that because after Prot would leave the host body that was Robert Porter's, he would need care, without having Prot "possessing" him anymore. Maybe Bridges' character was moved because he had a hunch that this was the case, or maybe he was just saddened because he thought Prot was insane.

Realistically: Robert Porter had a psychotic break after seeing his family murdered (who wouldn't), and assumed the Prot identity as a way to cope with the trauma. He felt safe in this guise, divorcing himself so far from his former life that not only was he certain that he wasn't Robert Porter anymore, but that he wasn't even human.

When his disguise was revealed, he knew he had to give up Prot so he concocted a convenient alibi for getting rid of him, but he still didn't want to be Robert Porter. He is essentially a multiple personality schizophrenic with only one personality left which he doesn't want to be. Hence his request that Jeff Bridges take care of him, because he won't.

OR

Everything he said was true and he really is an alien who possessed a man to prevent him from committing suicide.

It's a movie, of course he's an alien and was "possessing" Porter. However.. Porter and Prot sound very similar... On the other hand he drew the planets an their trajectories.. something the scientists failed to do.

For all we know, 'Prot' is not his native name, but either a translation or something that Robert named him.
We may not be able to say his real name... (think of how many foreigners that move to the US get a new name, so that people can easily use it).
