Bad Movie?

Does everyone think this movie is that bad? I kind of liked it..

reply

I also liked this movie. I know it was not great film, but vampire movies are supposed to be kind of lame. It goes with the territory. Anyways I enjoyed the movie. It was worth a rental from Netflix.

not the best but i liked it.......

Vampire movies are SUPPOSED to be kind of lame? If a movie is lame, first off it's a person's opinion. Second of all, it has to do with the casting, filming, etc. You, obviously, haven't seen Interview with the Vampire. It's anything BUT lame!

I liked the movie, as far as vampire movies go it was a 7 out of 10. I think the acting was good and the plot wasn't bad, though it's no Razor Blade Smile or From Dusk till Dawn, it was pretty good. At least they didn't continue trying to bring back the same vampire and make a franchise from that. I don't understand why they went from slaying a tall masculine Valek to someone with the likes of Enya... Why were they trying to kill Enya?

reply

Yeah, I mean vampire movies aren't supposed to be masterpieces. It was a fun movie.

reply

That it was. Ninety-four minutes of fun, it was worth buying for my collection.

reply

The first one was so good & moved so well that this one never had anything left to do but let us down. It was OK though.

Don't wander into abandend churches for Czakyr will grab you from underneath the watery grave.

I think the acting was good

Yikes! If you think that was good, what exactly do you consider bad?

the plot wasn't bad

Yes, but it wasn't good either.

Why were they trying to kill Enya?

'Cause she was a vampire. Duh. :o)

Seriously, the villain was the only part of this that I liked - she didn't over or under act (unlike everyone else in here) and the part was subtle, and the character didn't really do anything mind-numbingly stupid.

Here are some real examples of bad movies

- Eraserhead
- Holy Mountain
- V for Vendatta
- Freeway (1997)
- Mognolia
- Elephant

reply

Assuming that Mognolia is PT Anderson's Magnolia, all of those are actually good movies, with The Holy Mountain and Magnolia even being amongst my all time favorites, so I find your taste rather questionable.

Anyway, this movie isn't anywhere near the worst I've seen. I actually the cast did reasonably well with what they were given. The problem is that they were given nothing. There's really not any interesting or unique ideas for this genre, and the writing is so completely bland. The stakes here feel practically nonexistent, at least in comparison to other vampire films. The vampires might as well be petty crooks. On top of that, Tommy Lee Wallace is a really unexceptional director, which only amplifies that lack of vitality, but at the same time, there are only a few sequences that I thought were notably poorly directed. So, while I wouldn't really recommend the film, you could find a worse way to spend an hour and a half. Mindlessly entertaining.

reply

HAHAHAHA you think this movie is great, and a masterpiece like V for Vendatta you find bad, unbelievable you really don't know what is good and whats not.

I am so happy you don't make the movies that they show in the Cinema.

Vampires (1998) was a ok movie not good and not bad, but this movie was not ok, a
4.4 is a good number for this movie.

reply

It wasnt that bad, I missed James woods but it was pretty good,
The Surf board/Weapons case was nice.

reply

I didn't like the movie very much. I wasn't too enthusiastic about watching this one since I didn't like the original John Carpenter's Vampires, and my expectations came through for me. I'd rather watch just about any other vampire movie out there.

reply

I read the users' comments before I saw the movie - so I wasn't expecting a lot. But I did enjoy it. Really, I think I liked it more than the other film I watched last night - "Mystic River".

I liked this movie, but I've realy seen better flicks about vampires.
Here I saw no such things that could make me feel it was real vampire movie - I thought it was kinda one just to relax.

BUT

I liked the scene where John Bon Jovi takes the Zoeys blood and infects himself!!!!!

That was awesome!
Great performance!

This is not a bad movie. Soul Plane is a bad movie. I watched this one before watching the original w/James Woods because I just wanted to watch any film w/Diego Luna in it. I wasn't expecting a good film from the reviews; but I was pleasantly surprised. It was good, fun, exciting, and even sweet. I was thoroughly entertained for the entire film and I immediately rented the original after that expecting the same kind of film. Don't even bother w/the original w/James Woods because it was really really bad; just plain stupid and lacking the humor and wit of Vampires Los Muertos. For you Diego Luna fans out there, he actually has a meaty part in this one, so definately give this a shot and you'll be delighted.

It wasn't bad, but not the best vampire movie I've seen. The best I've seen is Interview with the Vampire (people please, on a side not DON'T watch Queen of the Damned unless you're into gothic music and hot actors, it was bollucks compared to the book).
I liked the original, the main vampire bad guy (can't remember his name lol) really creeped me out, I don't know why, just did.
I originally watched this for Jon Bon Jovi (HUGE fan of his music) and was pleasantly surprised at how good his performance was. If you want a good Jon Bon Jovi performance, check out 'Pay it Forward', not a big part, but plays it well.
I think I'm going to rent this out along with the original one again for some late night viewing.

I've been locked inside your Heart-Shaped box for a week...

I'm not one for critising a movie as so much as to just call it crap for no reason, I enjoyed Vampire: Los Muertos, it was a kind of light hearted vampire film compared to most I have seen- not in the fact of a few jokes but just the mood of it. It was watchable and I enjoyed it mostly but I felt the shots weren't all too good, made it bitty and the storyline could have had some progress made to it, not all the dialogue was very strong and I just feel that there could have been a litle more work made on it before it was made.
'Embrace forever in darkness' I think you were a bit harsh saying that people shouldn't watch QOTD unless they only like gothic music etc. because a lot of people do like it, it had an effective storyline but I can understand that it did feel more like a big music video. I think that if you compare it to IWTV then yes it would seem very different, different directors and there were quite a few years in between the films but I thought it was interesting to see a different perspective and thought it was an effective way to set out the film. QOTD is a very popular film but I have to admit I did enjoy IWTV more. Anyway, I think Jon Bon Jovi did a good role in Vampires: Los Muertos, I am not a big fan of his so I'm not trying to be biased, I was actually surprised because I thought he wouldn't be very good but his role was quite strong. Altogether a good watch but I guess for some people it can leave them a little disappointed :P I haven't seen the first one myself, I know it's weird, I nearl always seem to see the sequels before the original that it came from, lol, makes more sence when you watch them in order though...
Thanks.

You obviously know nothing about gothic music.

Better than your average vampire movie, and better than the original Vampire$ movie in my opinion. The characters were more likable, for one thing. And while I was prepared to hate the movie because Jon Bon Jovi was in it, he actually turned in a relatively good performance and had a likeable character. Probably the best movie out of the entire Vampire$ trilogy.

reply

I only got this movie out coz Bon Jovi is my fan band and iw anted to see if Jon could act as well as he can sing. I thought his performance was reasonably good. The plot was great, the movie was good but not brilliant. Not the worst thing i've seen and its not a struggle to watch, but i think it could have been better.
