It's difficult to take JBJ seriously in the role...

... No detriment to him as an actor, but you need bucketloads of 'gravitas' to carry this kind of thing off, (*cough* - "James Woods" - *cough*... ) and the New Jersey guy just hasn't got it, I'm afraid... 3/10.

The luck is gone, the brain is shot; but the LIQUOR - we still got!

I AGREE WITH TOO.HE WAS GREAT IN NO LOOKING BACK,U-571,AND EVEN IN LITTLE CITY,BUT IT'S HARD TO TAKE HIM SERIOUS AS A TOUGH GUY.TOM HANKS WAS THE SAME WAY FOR ME IN ROAD TO PERDITION,CAN'T PICTURE THEM AS TOUGH GUYS.I THINK THEY'RE GOOD ACTORS,JUST NOT IN THESE KIND OF ROLES.

Ok, well this isn't a block buster oscar winner...but it was done well. After all, it's a vampire movie... Gory, but not that scary... I'm female, but having a woman be the main "vampire" just didn't do it for me. But I still enjoyed watching the movie, it was filmed different, so I liked that. I love JBJ, his music and some of his movies. He was hot to look at, but his acting was a little short. Every word he said sounded very "written" and not natural.... He was speaking word for word from the script..

I love Diego though...he is very natural in speaking and his movements....born to be an actor....

his acting?...we talk about the most beautiful man in the world! who cares about his acting??!? ...and if you want a good performance by Jon, take a look at "Row your Boat"...you'll change your opinion, trust me...

reply

so true! Jon's work in Row Your Boat is superb, i really connected with his character, i felt for him big time! he did a fantstic job in tht movie!

reply

i have to say different,
Jon may not be a very experienced actor, but he takes his acting very seriously and when i see him in a film, as big a fan as i am of the band, he's not Jon Bon Jovi "Rockstar" , he's Derek or whichever, he focuses on the role and make sit his own. i think hes done a great job here. but i can see where you're coming from, there could have been 'better' actors for the job, but hell, there are so many ones that could have been worse!

reply

Agreed; I really wasn't trying to criticize him for no reason, it's just that this I think is the first film I've seen with him as the main star, and I don't think he has the confidence in his other job yet to fully convince with that type of responsibility...

... On the other hand; I just saw Moonlight & Valentino this morning, and I thought he was BY FAR the best thing about an otherwise stuffy and very "glib" film... (Sorry to come over all Tom Cruise, there... ! ) I think he's much better suited to supporting roles in ensemble pieces.

I'm sorry, I don't speak monkey...

Just what I thought too. He just doesn't carry the film in the same way James Woods, or another more experienced actor might do. 🐭
