Man did I want the "bad" guys to win

Never have I rooted for the bad guys more than in this movie. Redford the "hero" was a smug a-hole from the moment he walked in. Apparently we are supposed to forget his treason that landed him in jail in the first place? Col Winter was no saint, but punishing a prisoner now and then--even severely--is allowed. The men he was guarding were all criminals, not heroes soldiers.
